About Me:

I was born in 1984 in Charlotte NC and grew up in Weddington and Hickory NC.  I recieved my B.S. degree in chemistry from Virginia Military Institute in 2007 and commissioned directly in the United States Air Force.  In the Air Force I was assigned to Tyndall AFB and worked in the Air Force Research Labs as part of the Aircraft Operating Surfaces group from 2007 -2009.  In 2009 I was selected by the Air Force Institute of Technology Civilian Institute program to study organic chemistry for the Air Force.   Under the Air Force Institute of Technology I was put on special assignment at FSU and the McQuade Research labs to learn organic chemistry and recieve an advanced degree in the subject.  I am currently slated to be stationed at FSU till December 2010, and will be reassigned from here to perform chemical research for the United States Air Force.

Research:

This past year I have studied under Dr. Tyler McQuade and Dr. Jin Kyoon Park under the broad field of copper catalyzed conjugate silyl or boryl addition to unsaturated carbonyls.  Our current research focuses on the use of a exciting new copper catalyst that demonstrates remarkable activity and enatioselectivity in these type reactions.
